How We Work

  • We help you to do consistency and completeness checks on permit applications for all types of federal and state energy and decarbonization-related projects– including LNG, wind, solar, CCS, energy infrastructure, and pipelines. 

  • Our output is a complete, consistent permit application that you can submit to the appropriate state and federal regulatory agencies.

  • Your permit writing team and subject matter experts will share data or documents (in any format) to a central secure repository. As we receive updates from your permit writer and SMEs we will ingest their data into your preferred permit application template. On a weekly basis, we’ll share a draft of the permit application with you. As more data is uploaded to the Box folder, we’ll ingest the data and update the draft of the permit application. Consistency and completeness checks are part of our ongoing process so as you receive drafts of your permit application, you’ll be able to see which pieces of data are missing from that section.

  • No. We work with your permit writer and your cross functional team of subject matter experts. Your subject matter experts (focused on water, geology, seismic, legal, etc.) will upload their data into a central, secure location. We will ingest all of their data and analysis and populate everything completely and consistently throughout your entire permit application. We’ll share regular updates and versions of your application with you, as it’s being completed.

  • Industrial projects and associated permit application needs are all unique, it’s hard for us to give one standard price. Contact us, we’d be happy to learn about your project and give you a price. If we’ve never worked together and you want to check us out, we do have special pricing for new customer pilots.


  • Yes! We’d love to do a pilot with you. Contact us. We’d love to learn about your energy or decarbonization project and help you streamline the permit application process.

Our Solution

  • Yes, provided that we have been working with you and your team on your permit application for at least a couple of weeks. We are not able to integrate last minute data in a consistent and complete way throughout a 1000+ page application with one day’s notice (yet!).

  • Yes, provided that we have been working with you and your team on your permit application for at least a couple of weeks. We are fast but we are not able to turn around a completeness check in a couple of days (yet!).

  • Yes. Our solution pulls the most current regulations from the state and federal sources associated with our customer’s permit application. So, if regulations change, we’ll know and be able to update your permit application.

  • Our solution is different from Chat GPT, or any off the shelf generative AI solution, in 4 primary ways:  

    1. We do not allow your data to be used to train the model.  If you upload a document to an off the shelf generative AI solution (like Chat GPT), by default, your data may be ingested and used to train the algorithm.  

      2. Our solution does not hallucinate or make up responses.  Our system will refuse to answer instead of hallucinating given a lack of data.  If you upload your data into an off the shelf generative AI solution, there is a good chance that the output you receive will not be 100% truthful.  LLMs (large language models) like Chat GPT are trained to provide answers– even if the answers are not 100% truthful.  Our solution does not make up responses. 

      3. Our solution can handle large documents.  An off the shelf LLM can not ingest 500+ pages of material and hold all of that content in its working memory.  Our solution is able to ingest and accurately work with large, 500+ page documents.

      4. Our solution can find and accurately update data throughout a large document.  So, if you or one of your subject matter experts learn something new at the last minute and realize you need to update your permit application, we can help.  Our solution can find and consistently update data and formatting changes throughout your entire permit application.

Security

  • At Permeta, we take data security seriously. Box serves as our secure data repository for all customer files. When you upload data through our File Request link, it goes directly into Box—no additional accounts are required on your end. Data is encrypted in-transit and at-rest. In transit, we (and our service providers) use TLS 1.3 or select TLS 1.2 cipher suites. When content reaches Box, it is encrypted at rest with AES-256. Box uses per-file encryption keys, which are themselves encrypted with a master key rotated periodically. Uploaded files are immediately replicated across Box's infrastructure for resilience. We apply the same standards to our third-party vendors and cloud infrastructure providers: data is encrypted in-transit and at-rest using the latest encryption technologies.

    • We reduce AI hallucinations by leveraging emerging information theory research and  neuro-symbolic AI. Traditional AI models rely solely on neural networks, which are excellent at recognizing patterns but can sometimes generate confident, incorrect answers. A neuro-symbolic system combines these neural models with symbolic reasoning—explicit rules, logic, and domain knowledge that act as guardrails. The neural components interpret complex, unstructured information, while the symbolic layer checks outputs against established facts, enforces logical constraints, and ensures consistency.

    • This hybrid approach helps ground the AI in verified knowledge, improves explainability, and significantly reduces the likelihood of inaccurate or invented responses. While no system can eliminate hallucinations entirely, neuro-symbolic AI provides a much more reliable foundation for high-accuracy, compliance-critical tasks like permitting.
