Don’t Just Automate Existing Workflows. Redesign Them.

When new technologies emerge, our first instinct is often to take an existing process and make it a little faster. But the biggest gains rarely come from automation alone. They come from reimagining how work gets done.

Think about navigation. GPS didn't simply make paper maps faster. It completely changed how we plan routes, respond to traffic, and travel from point A to point B.

The same principle applies to energy permitting. The goal isn't simply to generate permit applications faster. The real opportunity is to rethink how developers, consultants, regulators, and communities work together throughout the permitting process.

What if permit applications were continuously updated instead of manually assembled?

What if regulatory requirements could be monitored automatically?

What if inconsistencies could be identified before submission?

What if developers and regulators could spend less time searching for information and more time making decisions?

Those aren't automation questions. They're workflow redesign questions. The organizations creating the most value with AI won't simply do the same things faster. They'll find smarter ways to work.
