Don’t Let Governance Become The Bottleneck
As AI adoption accelerates, many companies are finding themselves caught between two extremes: too little governance creates risk., while too much governance slows innovation.
A recent MIT Sloan article proposes a different approach: "minimum viable governance." The idea is simple—put enough oversight in place to manage risk effectively without creating unnecessary friction. That concept resonates with us at Permeta.
In energy permitting, we see a similar challenge. The goal isn't to eliminate oversight, compliance, or review. The goal is to make those processes more efficient, transparent, and effective. The best AI systems don't replace human judgment. They help people make better decisions faster.
As organizations continue adopting AI, the winners won't be those with the most controls—or the fewest. They'll be the ones that strike the right balance between innovation and accountability.
